The project : Training Kit for Personnel Working with Nuclear Sources (industry, medical, fire services, etc.)

Our mission : To create the ergonomic design for training devices, including sources and dosimeters.

Ob’dO, a company specialising in the design of connected objects, launched the first version of Dosicase in 2016. Favoured by trainers and professionals in the nuclear sector, Dosicase has become an essential tool for training personnel in the proper use of dosimeters and thereby ensuring their safety under working conditions.

Building on this success and the experience gained, Ob’dO has developed a new generation that allows for even more precise and realistic simulation of usage conditions. As with the first version of Dosicase, and for numerous projects undertaken together, Ob’dO entrusted The Use Factory with the responsibility for the system’s ergonomics and design, as well as the mechanical design and production setup in direct integration with the electronics.

Initiation and Architecture Exploration

Ob’dO and The Use Factory have established a long-standing, close partnership. We regularly collaborate on projects for mutual clients and share the same commitment to project success.
We’ve created ways of working together that ensure all technical, ergonomic, and design factors are addressed right from the beginning and continue through the project’s development.

Design Strategy and Formal Design Concepts

The challenge is to develop a style and image that fits well in a training setting. It should reflect the technological value of DosiCase, demonstrate its usefulness, and emphasise its primary purpose: training operators in safety.

Model Development

Finalising the design involves perfecting both the technical and aesthetic aspects of each detail. Special attention was given to selecting construction options and technical methods. Collaboration with our partners, who specialise in rapid machining of injection moulds, enabled the adoption of this technology, typically reserved for large-scale production. Despite the modest volumes associated with its application field, DosiCase benefits from casings manufactured in injected ABS, providing optimal technical and aesthetic qualities at a controlled cost.

Graphical User Interface

The graphical interface of the front panels was developed to adhere to the brand and DosiCase application’s visual identity, ensuring intuitive use.

Industrial support

From file transfer to the inspection of the first manufactured pieces, we supported Ob’dO’s team in refining industrial processes and ensuring the conformity and quality of the manufactured and assembled components.
